“In order to stop the works, we will file a criminal complaint against the Cappadocia Area Presidency officials and municipality officials, Deputy General Manager of Cultural Heritage and Museums, Birol İnceciköz, who again abused his office, initiated this vandalism that caused the destruction of the world heritage, and allowed the road construction works. We are facing savage destruction.”

“We invite UNESCO to duty”

“As the Ankara Branch of the Chamber of Architects, we once again call on the public and the authorities to stop this massacre and not to completely destroy Cappadocia. We follow the process meticulously. As the Ankara Branch of the Chamber of Architects, we invite UNESCO once again to stop the construction of the road through the middle of Cappadocia, which is on the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.”

“Irreparable Damages”

“We sent a letter to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Turkish National Committee and requested the assignment of a study commission for on-site examination of road and constructions. Unesco responded by stating that commissions are working for the report on this issue. Irreversible damage is done in Cappadocia. The Ministry of Culture should immediately stop the road construction process. We emphasize once again that for the future of Cappadocia, a holistic environmental order and management plan should be prepared for the Göreme Open Air Museum.”
