According to the news in Türkrus, the number of Russian citizens leaving Turkey in recent months has exceeded 50 thousand.

Ria, who reported on the data announced by the Directorate of Immigration Management, revealed that the outflows that started last year reached 44 thousand in 2023. While it has been a matter of curiosity why Russian citizens, who have been at the top among the countries with the highest number of residence permits in Turkey for years, left Turkey, the Russian press looked for the answer to this question in those who left the country.

PRICES GOT TROUBLED, TOURISTS FLEW THE COUNTRY

High inflation in Turkey is felt most in the food and service sectors. So much so that eating out has become a dream for many Turkish citizens, while prices, which have become affordable for foreign citizens and tourists due to exchange rate increases in the past years, have now surpassed even the European average.

While restaurant prices in Turkey surpass the most elegant venues in Europe even in Euro terms, Antalya and Istanbul, which have lost their appeal due to the high cost of living, have accelerated the return of foreign citizens to their country.

While tens of thousands of Russian citizens, especially those living in Antalya, are leaving Turkey, the situation is expected to continue for a while.
