While the war in Gaza continues, Turkey’s moves continue to be on the agenda in the Middle East.

Israeli television Kan News reported that during the first period of the war in Gaza, Turkey proposed the deployment of external military forces to Gaza to ensure security, but Arab countries rejected this plan.

An Arab diplomat speaking to the channel said that Turkey also presented the plan to the USA and Israel, but many Arab countries, including Egypt, opposed the proposal.

“Turkey is trying every way to influence the situation in Gaza and position itself as the central actor, especially in front of the Americans. Arab countries such as Egypt maintain normal relations with Turkey, but are skeptical of Turkey’s attempts to gain a foothold in the Palestinian area,” the diplomat said.

The news also claimed that Turkey was trying to stand out at a time when Qatar’s mediation activities between Israel and Hamas were creating controversy. Drawing attention to Hamas leader Ismail Haniye’s meeting with President Erdoğan in Istanbul this week, Kan said, “It is possible that Turkey wants to align the Hamas leadership with itself. This will increase Turkey’s influence on all issues related to Gaza.” used.

Jerusalem Post newspaper also commented, “Turkey attempted to gain a foothold on the Palestine issue, but Arab countries rejected it.”
