In a parking lot at St Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport, Evgeny Titov crawled into a 30-cm-wide drainage pipe for some unknown reason. The 21-year-old said he had come to St Petersburg to visit a friend, but did not remember why he had gotten into the pipe. Cramped in the sewer pipe, Titov managed to crawl 12 meters along the pipe before calling for help.

THE OPERATION TAKED EXACT 7 HOURS

The operation of the teams that stepped in to save the man stuck in the sewer pipe took 7 hours. The rescue operation included cutting the asphalt, digging a six-metre deep pit, and removing the sewer pipe to save the shirtless man. The man, who was removed from the sewer pipe, was taken to the intensive care ward of a local hospital to be treated for hypothermia. Although law enforcement officials stated that Titov was drunk at the time of the incident, the young man denied this.
