The State of Hessen, where approximately 350 thousand Turks live in Germany, is launching a ‘Housing Allowance’ to support low-income families and overcome the congestion in the housing crisis. The decision taken by the State Government on Monday will be effective from March 1, 2024. In other words, those who bought a house on March 1 will also benefit from this right.

The income of the person or family buying the house or the price of the house will not be taken into consideration. The only condition required is; It is the first house purchased by the family or person. Turkish families who buy their first home will be paid 10 thousand Euros for each husband and wife, and 5 thousand Euros for each child under the age of 18.

WILL NOT EXCEED TRADING TAX

The amount to be paid cannot exceed the 6 percent purchase-sales tax of the house. Housing allowance assistance will be paid to the new home owner in 10 installments per year. There will be no citizenship requirement for aid. The prerequisite is that the person or family resides within the borders of the State of Hesse and that the house is located in the State of Hesse. It is not yet clear what the situation will be if someone who does not live in Hesse buys a house here. It is estimated that he will still be eligible for aid if he moves.

The payment will also be valid for those who buy an apartment or luxury villa. Those who receive housing allowance will also be able to get a cheap loan from the public bank for discounted repairs or renovations. With this decision, the government aims to make homeowners, especially young people and newlyweds.

THE MOST BUYING GROUP IS TURKS

While 23 thousand applications are expected annually, it is thought that the proportion of Turks will be high among them. Because Turks are one of the groups that stand out and invest the most, especially when it comes to buying a house. It is not necessary for couples receiving aid to be legally married. Those living together will also be able to benefit from this right.

The state government also called on the Federal Government to exempt young families who will buy a house from the purchase and sale tax. Until then, the ‘House allowance’ called Hessengeld will continue to be paid.
