In the second match of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoff series, Panathinaikos beat Maccabi Tel Aviv, which it hosted at home, and brought the series to 1-1.
Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman stood in front of the microphone after the match.
Ergin Ataman’s post-match statements are as follows:
“We didn’t defend well in the first quarter. We started playing good basketball starting from the second quarter. Sloukas, in particular, controlled the attack superbly and made a difference with his points and assists. Papapetrou did a great job too. After the first quarter, everything was very good, the referee management was also very good. I think the whole of Europe saw the difference between the two teams. Two days ago I said ‘we will win this series’ because I have great confidence in my team, I saw throughout the season that my team was better than Maccabi. Now we will play two matches in Belgrade, it will not be easy for us. Maccabi is also a good team, they are very effective especially in attack. They punish every moment you are soft in defense, we saw this in the first quarter. “Everything was great for us today, starting from the second quarter.”
