He was elected mayor from the Re-Welfare Party in the 31 March Local Government General Elections in Konya’s Doğanhisar district. Ali Öztokluannounced that he resigned from his party.

In his written statement, Öztoklu stated that he was elected as the Mayor of Doğanhisar from the Re-Welfare Party with the support of the citizens.

Stating that he made an important decision, Öztoklu said:

“From today onwards, I have decided to continue my duty as mayor as an independent mayor. The most important reason for taking this decision is that I believe that I can implement more effective and comprehensive projects as an independent mayor on this path I have set out for the development and welfare of our Doğanhisar.” For this reason, I respectfully inform you, my dear fellow citizens and the public, that I have resigned from the Re-Welfare Party and will continue on my way as an independent mayor, and I expect your support and prayers.”
