Turkey’s direct investments in Romania reached 7.5 billion dollars

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said, “When the investments of our country’s people from third countries are included, our direct investments in Romania have reached a very high level of 7.5 billion dollars.”

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz came to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, for an official visit. Yılmaz, who was welcomed by Turkey’s Bucharest Ambassador Özgür Kıvanç Altan and other relevant people at Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport, then attended the Turkish Business World Round Table Meeting organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) and the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK).

Speaking here, Yılmaz stated that Romania is a very valuable country for Turkey and that the relations between the two countries are extremely good and positive and that they have developed relations on the basis of alliance and strategic partnership.

Pointing out that Romania is one of the countries with which Turkey has the highest level of political, economic, military and cultural relations in Europe and the Balkans, Yılmaz said that in 2023, Romania will be the 6th country to which Turkey exports the most among the EU countries. He stated that he is in the position of the country.

Yılmaz stated that Turkey exported 6.9 billion dollars to Romania last year, while imports were 3.6 billion dollars, and that the total trade volume increased to 10.6 billion dollars.

Stating that Romania ranks 7th among EU countries in terms of Turkey’s foreign trade volume, after Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland, Yılmaz continued: “The figures in the first three months of this year are It indicates that there will be a very serious increase. I hope we will reach 13 billion dollars, but we aim for a much higher trade volume in the medium-long term, as our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pointed out, and it is larger than this. We are pleased. We have full faith that this momentum will continue. In terms of direct investments, Romania is among the top 10 countries in which Turkish companies invest, and in the contracting sector, we have nearly 5 thousand active companies, and the number of registered companies. Of course, it is much higher. We have significant investments in the country, from electronic products to the food sector, from the information communication sector to the furniture sector. When the investments of our country’s people from third countries are included, our direct investments in Romania have reached a very high level of 7.5 billion dollars. “These companies generally operate in the fields of manufacturing, metal industry, food, construction and health.”

Yılmaz stated that the number of companies with Romanian capital in Turkey is 293, and that these companies operate especially in the motor vehicles, transportation and tourism sectors, and said, “Our aim is to further increase these investments within the framework of mutual interests with Romania, on the basis of a win-win understanding.” he said.

“OUR CONTRACTING COMPANIES HAVE UNDERTAKEN 211 PROJECTS TO DATE”

Emphasizing that there are 40 companies from Turkey in the 2023 list of the world’s top 250 contractors, Yılmaz said that with this number, Turkey ranks second after China, and that Turkish contractors have undertaken very successful projects in many parts of the world and symbol projects in many countries.

“Romania’s geographical proximity to our country, existing transportation facilities, and the presence of business people and contractors operating here increase the potential for trade and cooperation between the two countries. Our contracting companies have undertaken 211 projects in Romania to date, and the total value of this is around 11 billion dollars.” has reached.” Yılmaz noted that they were very pleased that the contracting companies shared their international experiences with Romania, especially in the fields of highways, tunnels, bridges, trade centers and housing, within the scope of infrastructure and superstructure projects.

“THERE WILL BE A HIGH-LEVEL VISIT FROM ROMANIA TO TURKEY”

Yılmaz stated that they wish visa procedures to be carried out faster and easier with Romania, and that this is important for Turkish companies in Romania to work more effectively and make greater contributions to Romania.

Stating that they will continue mutual steps with Romania in this context, Yılmaz said:

“I had a talk with our esteemed Minister of Foreign Affairs before arriving. A decision process has been initiated to facilitate the transactions of those coming to Turkey, especially from Romania. I do not want to give details as it has not been signed yet, but a good development is being made in this sense, I can say that. Again In the near future, there will be a high-level visit from Romania to Turkey. I believe that this will again be an important milestone in our relations. The mutual high-level visits will undoubtedly reflect on our commercial and political relations. “I would like to express that it creates various benefits for our economic relations as well as our relations in these fields.”
