10 years ago in Çanakkale, Zeynel C., who was drinking alcohol in a store, started arguing with her children and two siblings. When the argument turned into a fight, the family members laid Zeynel C. on the ground, first taped the old man’s mouth, hands and feet with duct tape, and then strangled him to death with the ropes of carpet fringes they found in the store. Taking their father’s ID cards, Ali C. Mehmet C., Abuzer C. and Memet C. wrapped the old man in a carpet and threw him off the cliff.
“WE WILL NOT SAY”
After the people returned to the store, cleaned up the traces of blood, they told their mother and other siblings about the incident and said, “This is our family secret, we will keep it for life and will not share it with anyone.” Learning that the family had applied to the court for an absence decision in 2023, the teams raided the house. Zeynel C.’s wife Gülşen C., sons Ali C., Mehmet C., Gökhan C., uncle Abuzer C., Memet C, nephew Mustafa C., daughters AB and EY were detained. Ali C., Mehmet C., uncle Abuzer C., Memet C., who were referred to the Courthouse after their interrogations, were arrested and sent to prison, while Gülşen C., Mustafa C., Gökhan C, AB and EY were released.
