The debate that started on social media in Kocaeli’s Darıca district ended with murder. The incident took place on April 12 in İstasyon Street, İstasyon District, Darıca district. One of the two masked and helmeted people who came on a motorcycle got off and shot Arda Yücel Ekşi, who was in the coffeehouse, with a gun. Ekşi, who was hit by 8 bullets in both legs, was taken to the hospital by medical teams who came to the area upon notice. The person who committed the incident and the motorcycle driver escaped.

Ekşi, who was treated at the hospital, stated in his statement to the police that before the incident, he and the person named YT had argued on social media, cursed and constantly threatened each other on their social media accounts. Ekşi died a week later in the hospital where he was treated. Ekşi’s body was buried after the funeral prayer performed at İstasyon Yeni Mosque in Gebze district on April 21.

As part of the investigation carried out by Kocaeli Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau teams, it was determined that the motorcycle used in the incident was stolen on April 5 and that the suspects hid it in the forest until the day of the incident. The teams deepened the investigation and determined that the person who opened fire on Arda Yücel Ekşi was YT, and the person driving the engine was C.Ş. He determined that it was (17).
