The Congress of the Party with Hundreds of Thousands of Members Has Come! Resignations of 28 MPs in His Pocket

İYİ Party will elect a new chairman at its extraordinary general assembly to be held on Saturday, April 27. This important congress will be open to the supreme council delegates, MPs and mayors from the İYİ Party, but guests will not be accepted.

CANDIDATES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED, A SIGNATURE TARGET HAS BEEN SET

Müsavat Dervişoğlu, Koray Aydın, Mehmet Tolga Akalın and Günay Kodaz announced that they are candidates for the chairmanship. However, for definitive candidacy, they will need to obtain the signatures of at least 65 supreme council delegates in the congress hall and submit them to the council presidency.

Meral Akşener, who has been the chairman of the party since its establishment, announced that she supports Müsavat Dervişoğlu, while CHP municipalities support Koray Aydın. Mehmet Tolga Akalın, on the other hand, is making efforts to mobilize Turkish nationalists in the party base. Günay Kodaz seems to be having difficulty in getting signatures.

PREFERENCES OF MPS

İYİ Party entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly on May 14 with 43 deputies. However, this number dropped to 37 with resignations and dismissals. In the current situation, 34 out of 37 MPs declare their support for Müsavat Dervişoğlu, while Rıdvan Uz supports Tolga Akalın and some MPs prefer to remain silent.

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS

It is said that if Müsavat Dervişoğlu does not appear in the vote for the chairmanship on Saturday, 28 MPs will resign and the party will fall out of the group. However, MPs will remain independent until the election of the chairman and the Parliament will continue its work independently.

As a result, it seems that the future of the İYİ Party will depend on the results of the general assembly to be held on Saturday.
