Graduates from 55 years ago took to the field

On the anniversary of the establishment of Edirne High School, a friendly match was held between graduates of 55 years ago and high school students.

Edirne High School, which was opened in 1857 as Edirne Junior High School, celebrated its 167th anniversary.

A “Traditional pilaf day” event was held at the school with the participation of Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer and Edirne Mayor Filiz Gencan Akın. Later, within the framework of the celebration program, they went to 25 Kasım Stadium for the traditional football match between graduates and students.

CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan kicked off the match between the team consisting of high school graduates 55 years ago and the students studying at the high school.

The adult team, including Özgür Yankaya, one of the Super League VAR referees, and the team consisting of students drew 2-2.

Atıl Erman, President of Edirne High School Graduates Association (ELYD), said in his statement to journalists that the celebrations held within the scope of the founding anniversary of the high school increased unity and solidarity.

Stating that they had the honor of carrying the celebrations to the future, Erman said, “The football match between the students of Edirne High School and the high school team has been going on for 80 years. We are happy to keep such a deep-rooted tradition alive. This football match is also of great importance in terms of transferring the tradition to future generations.” said. AA
