The AKP government found the new culprit of the economic crisis: Cafes and restaurants… In Turkey, which had previously carried out onion-potato raids and demonized markets such as BİM, A101, Şok by calling them “three-letter people”, this time cafes and restaurants are the targets.

The government also took action as a result of the boycott launched against cafes and restaurants due to exorbitant prices. Ministry of Commerce teams inspected restaurants and cafes in five provinces regarding the practice of placing tariffs and price lists visibly in front of the business and on the tables.

Previously, police officers in municipalities belonging to AKP and MHP went on “three-letter” inspections and controlled prices in the market. Reports were kept by the police teams on the businesses that were found to have exorbitant price increases or violations of the labels and were reported to the provincial trade directorate.

ONION LOBBY…

Speaking about the “onion stockist” raids in 2018, a farmer said:

“A television channel came to my warehouse and we did an interview. After they were done, they said, ‘Close the warehouse door, step aside, and let’s shoot it like that.’ We closed the doors as they said and stood aside so they could film. Then, while we were watching the evening news, we saw a sign pointing to my warehouse and saying, “The stockists locked the warehouse and ran away.” However, we were there, making sales, and they told us to close the door. Is there fraud?”

WHAT DID ERDOĞAN SAY

President Erdoğan said, “Five chain markets. They collect all that product. The markets are turned upside down with the products collected by these five chain markets. If they act more fairly at this point, both the citizens will be able to buy products at affordable prices and the producer will not be able to get his earnings and money on time.” He said, “Our Ministry of Commerce is taking all necessary measures to combat these practices of chain markets and will carry out the necessary operations against them.”

However, despite all the “precautions” taken, while nothing changes and the cost of living increases day by day, nothing is expected to come out of the inspections carried out by the Ministry of Commerce.

In an environment where everyone is guilty, it is a matter of curiosity when the government will take the blame for itself.

DID AKP ABANDON LIBERALISM?

DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OR NOT, IS THERE A LOGO OR NOT?

Price tags were examined in chain markets in Çanakkale.
