The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the unfounded allegations contained in the “2023 Human Rights Report” published by the US State Department the other day.

The Ministry emphasized that, as in previous years, unfounded allegations, unrealistic information and prejudiced comments against Turkey were included.

“Our country is committed to the principles of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.”

The following statements were made in the written statement made on the Ministry’s website:

“This year, we emphasize once again that we do not trust this report, which was prepared on the basis of allegations of unknown origin and discourses of circles affiliated with terrorist organizations. Our country remains committed to the principles of democracy, human rights and the rule of law, despite the multifaceted and severe terrorist threats it faces.

The anti-terrorism operations we carry out on the basis of our right to self-defense are entirely aimed at terrorist elements and the capabilities they use in terrorist activities. “It is impossible to understand why the United States, as an ally who knows well the scope of our just and legitimate struggle against all forms of terrorism, insists on inconsistent claims that distort the facts.”

“The report is far from impartiality and objectivity”

The Ministry also criticized the report for not including the ongoing attacks in Gaza to the extent expected:

“We find it with great concern that the ongoing inhumane attacks in Gaza, which deal a great blow not only to the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people but also to the common values of all humanity, are not adequately covered. This clearly shows that the report in question was prepared with political motives, far from impartiality and objectivity.” shows.

“We reiterate our call for the United States to focus on its own record on human rights and end its partnerships with terrorist organizations and its double-standard policy on human rights.”
