A security meeting was held in Ereğli under the chairmanship of Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan. Speaking at the meeting held at Ereğli District Governorship, Governor Vahdettin Özkan made evaluations under the headings of the fight against drugs, operations against organized crime organizations, work against wanted persons, the fight against irregular migration and the fight against terrorist organizations.
Governor Özkan said that the operations against drug dealers who poison young people and our future and the fight against drugs continue with determination. Özkan, in the first 4 months in Ereğli; He stated that while 163 people were prosecuted within the scope of the fight against drugs, 20 people were arrested and a large amount of drugs were seized.
Operations against organized crime organizations continue with determination
Governor Vahdettin Özkan stated that no structure that commits crimes in pursuit of unfair advantage or threatens the peace of citizens will be allowed, and that the work against criminal organizations continues meticulously under the coordination of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Özkan said that as a result of the operations carried out in the district, 18 suspects who were found to be involved in aggravated looting, forgery of official documents, usury, intentional wounding and threats were sent to prison.
Wanted persons will not be able to move freely in society
Governor Özkan stated that operations to capture wanted individuals who have committed crimes, have the potential to commit new crimes and threaten social peace are continuing and said, “In the last 4 months, 345 individuals wanted for different types of crimes were caught by law enforcement forces and referred to judicial authorities. “Efforts to capture 64 suspicious persons continue meticulously,” he said.
Noting that the fight against irregular migration continues effectively, Governor Vahdettin Özkan said, “With an understanding of migration management that does not compromise public order, the fight against irregular immigrants and organizers who smuggle immigrants continues effectively. “Recently, one organizer of immigrant smuggling was detained in Ereğli,” he said.
Noting that every action aimed at the unity and integrity of the country will be rewarded and that the fight against terrorist organizations continues with determination, Governor Özkan stated that 8 actions were taken against terrorist activities in the district in 2024.
