See how the inheritance case and the murder mystery were revealed…

--

Ali C., Mehmet C., and their uncles Abuzer C. and Memet C., who were determined to have strangled their father Zeynel C. to death with their uncle after having an argument at the furniture store in Çanakkale and then threw his body down the cliff, were arrested and sent to prison, while other family members were not detained. He was released pending trial. It turned out that the 10-year-old family secret of the murder was revealed by the inheritance case filed by the family who could not share Zeynel C.’s million-dollar inheritance.

The father, Zeynel C, who allegedly owned a furniture and carpet store on Atatürk Street in Barbaros District, was allegedly constantly drinking alcohol and did not work much in the store. His brothers and sons went to the villages to sell carpets, and family members ran the store. He was constantly using violence.

THEY KILLED THEIR FATHER BY BEATING AND STRANGING

According to the information received, on the evening of August 10, Zeynel C., who was drinking alcohol in the store, started arguing with her children and two siblings. As the argument turned into a fight, his son Ali C., Mehmet C. and his brothers Abuzer C. and Mehmet C. started hitting their father Zeynel C.. While Zeynel C. was covered in blood, family members laid Zeynel C. on the ground, first taped the old man’s mouth, hands and feet with duct tape, and then strangled him to death with the ropes of carpet fringes they found in the store.

THEY THROWN IT OFF THE cliff

Taking their father’s IDs, Ali C. Mehmet C., Abuzer C. and Memet C. wrapped the old man in a carpet and carried him to the vehicle. Later, the family members set out towards the Kurupınar location of Hamancık Village in Lapseki District, where they took the old man out of the vehicle and threw him off the cliff.

THEY BLACKED THE EVIDENCE AND SAID “IT WAS GONE”

Returning to the store after the incident, Ali C. Mehmet C. and his uncle Abuzer C. and Memet C., Zeynel C. cleaned up the blood traces and told their mother and other siblings about the incident and said that it would remain a family secret for life. The next day, family members continued their lives where they left off and told relatives who asked about Zeynel C. that he left home for another woman and moved to Syria. Learning that their father’s body was found by a shepherd the next day, the C. Family started to act more comfortably when they learned that no evidence of the murder could be found and the body was buried in the cemetery for the homeless in the Alacahırka District of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.

THEY SAID WE WERE NOT GETTING ANY NEWS AND ASKED FOR A DECISION OF ABSENCE.

After 10 years had passed since the murder, Ali C. Mehmet C. allegedly began to have disagreements in the furniture store he ran with his uncles Abuzer C. and Memet C.. Discord began between the family over inheritance, as everything belonged to their father. In 2023, Ali C. and his brother Mehmet C. stated that they had not heard from their father for a long time and applied to the court for an absence decision.

THE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN OPENED AGAIN

Intelligence teams affiliated with the Çanakkale Regiment Command, which reopened the unsolved files last year, launched an investigation into the murder committed 10 years ago. As part of the investigation, the grave of the person who was buried in the cemetery for the homeless with the special permission obtained from the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office last January was reopened and a DNA sample was taken from the body.

After it was determined that the DNA samples sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute belonged to Zeynel C, who had a carpet and furniture store in the center of Çanakkale, the Gendarmerie expanded the investigation.

THEY WERE MONITORED TECHNICALLY AND PHYSICALLY

Learning that the family had applied to the court for an absence decision in 2023, and suspecting that the family had not made any application regarding Zeynel C. at that time, the teams followed the family technically and physically. After the technical and physical follow-up, the Gendarmerie teams pressed the button for the operation. The teams raided the house and detained Zeynel C.’s wife Gülşen C., her sons Ali C., Mehmet C., Gökhan C., her uncle Abuzer C., Memet C, her nephew Mustafa C, her daughters AB and EY.

THEY CONFESSED THAT THEY DROPED AND KILLED THEM

The murderous family, who was taken to the police, confessed to the 10-year-old secret murder. Ali C. Mehmet C. and uncles Abuzer C. and Memet C. confessed that they first beat Zeynel C. as a result of an argument in the store, and then strangled her to death with the fringe ropes of the carpet.

THEY WERE ARRESTED

Ali C., Mehmet C., uncle Abuzer C., Memet C., who were referred to the Courthouse after their interrogations, were arrested and sent to prison, while Gülşen C., Mustafa C., Gökhan C, AB and EY were released on condition of judicial control.

WHAT IS AN ABSENCE DECISION?

If there is a strong possibility of the death of a person who is lost in danger of death or has not been heard from for a long time, the court may decide on the absence of this person upon the application of those whose rights depend on this death.
