--

Ardahan Provincial Health Director İshak Askeroğlu stated that brain tumor surgery was performed for the first time and said, “I would like to thank the entire team, especially the neurosurgeon Op. Dr. Özgür Orhan, who performed this surgery at Ardahan State Hospital. Our aim is to treat our patients in Ardahan here without sending them to the surrounding provinces.” “Our patient, who underwent the first brain surgery in our hospital, is in good health,” he said.

Askeroğlu said, “Our female patient from Iğdır, named Gülten Çakmaz, is referred to Erzurum from her hometown, Iğdır, due to itching in her brain. Our citizen, who was treated in Erzurum, later comes to her daughter, who is studying at Ardahan University. Gülten Çakmaz, who got sick here, applies to our hospital. At the Brain Surgery service. It was determined by our teacher that Çakmaz, who was under treatment, had a life-threatening mass in his brain. An emergency operation was decided on our patient, and as a result of a successful operation by our neurosurgeon Özgür Orhan and his team, with the approval of his family, the life-threatening mass was removed and several of our patients, like our aunt, were brought back to health. They were restored to health with successful operations performed in our hospital. Our patients were referred for oncology treatments in order to receive the next treatment processes. However, these patients were the patients whom tertiary health centers deemed risky and did not want to perform surgery. However, these patients had their surgeries successfully with the qualified hands of our healthcare personnel. . Ardahan State Hospital offers successful and high-quality healthcare services as a full-fledged secondary healthcare facility. Our fellow citizens of Ardahan should trust our healthcare system and healthcare personnel. And our main goal is to further the health services we offer in Ardahan with mutual tolerance.” The neurosurgeon who performed the surgery, Op. Dr. Özgür Orhan, said that the patient regained his health as a result of the operation and said, “Our patient is 52-year-old Gülen Çakmak. He came to the emergency department of Ardahan State Hospital with the complaint of itching in his brain. With the careful approach of our doctors here, a tumor was diagnosed in the patient’s brain with the tomography and MRI scans. Although the tumor was benign, it was a tumor that needed to be removed due to its location and could be life-threatening in the future. We took our patient to our service using the latest technology, taking him out as soon as he entered the surgery and even achieving a regression in his complaints. His final pathology was benign as we expected.

We removed the stitches, there is no problem, we will discharge him soon. An additional report will be issued and if it is confirmed that it is benign, he will live the rest of his life in a healthy way without the need for additional treatment. It is just an example to break the perception that such surgeries cannot be performed in Ardahan due to geographical or social conditions. “We have 5-6 more patients, we have successfully operated on all of them in the last two months and referred them to other centers to receive the additional treatments they need,” he said. Gülten Çakmaz, who regained her health after the surgery, said, “I had constant itching in my head, fatigue, and difficulty in walking. I went to other provinces due to my illness, was diagnosed with a tumor and was told that I needed surgery. However, I could not have surgery because it carried risks. My daughter is studying in Ardahan, I came to her. When I got sick here, I applied to Ardahan State Hospital. “I would like to thank our doctors who brought me back to health, they saved my life, may God bless them,” he said. UAV
