While April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day and the 104th opening anniversary of the Turkish Grand National Assembly are celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the country; Emir Can İğrek concert was organized by Mezitli Municipality at Soli Arena Concert Area. ‘Young Mayor’ Ahmet Serkan Tuncer, who became the Mayor of Mezitli with the support of 63 percent of the people of Mezitli in the Local Government Elections on March 31, 2024, and his wife Seçil Tuncer, as well as Republican People’s Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chairman and Mersin Deputy Ali Mahir, attended the concert. Basarir, Akdeniz Municipality Co-Mayor Hoşyar Sarıyıldız, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Olcay Tok and CHP Mezitli District Chairman Ulaş Yılmaz also attended.
EMİR CAN WAS STOLEN FROM ALL THE SPEAKERS OF THE MUNICIPALITY!
Emir Can İğrek, who started his concert with the song “Kor”, changed the lyrics of the song “Let Müzeyyen be played from all the loudspeakers of the municipality” to “Let Emir Can be played from all the loudspeakers of the municipality” in Mezitli. İğrek sang his popular songs such as ‘White Scandal’, ‘Nalan’, ‘Dargın’, ‘Ali Cabbar’ and ‘Beyoğlu’ to tens of thousands of people filling the area, and his fans welcomed him with placards in their hands. Stating that he comes to Mersin frequently, İğrek thanked those who contributed to the organization and said, “It is a beautiful evening, the weather is nice. He addressed the crowd with the words “We are happy, are you happy to be here?” At that time, the enthusiastic crowd reflected their satisfaction with applause and whistling.
A MEANINGFUL GIFT FROM THE MINITIES TO İĞREK: ‘MY DEAR FRIEND’
Students of the children’s day care center of Mezitli Municipality presented the meaningful gift they prepared days ago to Emir Can İğrek, who came to Mezitli for the concert, on stage. The painting prepared by the children included the photos of Emir Can İğrek and Onur Can Özcan, as well as the lyrics of the song ‘Can Dostum’. İğrek also sang the song “Can Dostum”, which he composed for his musician friend Onur Can Özcan, who lost his life when the boat capsized and sank after sailing in Şile in 2018.

Mezitli Mayor Ahmet Serkan Tuncer greeted the crowd before the concert with the words “Good evening Mezitli, good evening Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s soldiers, good evening intellectual Mezitli, Republican Mezitli, contemporary Mezitli”; “Today, we are celebrating April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day here. We are celebrating the first holiday that Atatürk gave to our children. Believe this; “This brother, this brother of yours, this president of yours will always keep Ataturk’s principles and reforms alive and will stand behind him like a lion.”
TUNCER: “WE WILL DO GREAT WORK WITH YOU”
Mayor Tuncer emphasized that artists who supported Atatürk’s principles and reforms, such as Emir Can İğrek, will be together with the people of Mezitli from now on and said, “I love you. I’m glad to have you. Mezitli will be a municipality that takes care of its young people, it will be a municipality that takes care of its women; It will be a municipality that takes care of its farmers, retirees and tradesmen. We will do great things together with you. Trust us, believe in us, love us. “We love you very much,” he said.

While CHP Group Deputy Chairman and Mersin Deputy Ali Mahir Başkar was celebrating April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day; Emphasizing that he bowed to the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect and longing; “I see young people here, I see my young brothers. I see my young brothers who are hopeful after March 31st. We promised you that we would win Mezitli, Mersin, Afyon, Uşak, Kütahya, Istanbul and Bursa. We make another promise to you: In the first election, we will all together send a president, a son of the Republic, to Çankaya. Young people, you will not be sad anymore. The resources and blessings of this country will not be shared among a handful of rich, a handful of elite. Now justice will come. The era of the tulip will end; equality will come, interviews will be abolished. Those who have uncles and uncles will not come anywhere. Children of this country, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; “You will compete equally,” he said.

Thanking the young people who filled the area, Basarir continued his words as follows; “Thousands of young people of Mezitli are here. Finally, I give you one more promise; From now on, your favorite artists will come and meet you in these squares in Mersin. Who will do this? Young President Ahmet Serkan Tuncer will do it. Young people, we appointed the young president to Mezitli. We appointed a 29-year-old brother of yours as mayor of Bodrum. We have made the political age younger all over Turkey. You will rule Turkey from now on. “We trust and believe in you.”
