Nur Abdud (31), who was 9 months pregnant, died in Yüreğir district of Adana. Nur Abbud’s baby boy, who was taken by cesarean section, survived the life-threatening situation. The baby could not breathe due to lack of oxygen during birth. The baby, whom doctors described as a miracle, was freed from the respirators and started breathing after the interventions in the neonatal intensive care unit.

The accident occurred on the night of April 17 in Yüreğir district, Seyhan District, Karataş Street. Syrian national Nur Abbud, 9 months pregnant, fell off the electric bike used by her husband Raid Abbud (40) during the journey. Meanwhile, the private public bus driven by Ali Davarcı hit the pregnant woman. While Abbud was taken to the City Training and Research Hospital by ambulance, Davarcı was taken into custody. Nur Abbud, whose fourth child, a boy, was taken by cesarean section, could not be saved. Davarcı, who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures, was arrested. Abbud’s body was taken to Azaz, Syria, by his wife and buried.

HE WAS NOT BREATHING WHEN HE WAS BORN

The baby, who could not breathe due to lack of oxygen during birth and whom doctors made intense efforts to keep alive, was transferred to Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital 5 days ago. The baby, whom doctors described as a miracle, was freed from the respirators and started breathing after the interventions in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Dr. Hacer Yapıcıoğlu said that cases of birth without oxygen occur frequently, but this is the first time she has encountered such an accident-related trauma. Yapıcıoğlu explained that the baby was not breathing and the peak heart rate could not be detected after the heart sound was noticed in the city hospital and was removed by surgery. He noted that a heart massage was performed for 15 minutes and medicine was given to his lungs through a tube to start breathing.

“IT’S GETTING BETTER THAN EXPECTED”

Stating that the baby’s values ​​were much lower than they should be at the time of birth, Yapıcıoğlu said, “Since our baby was born without oxygen, we reduced the body temperature to 34.5 degrees by body cooling, which we call hypothermia. Thus, the oxygen consumption of the brain cells decreased. It was worse when it first arrived, but after 72 hours of treatment, it was “We have removed the respirator. Despite his bad history, he is getting better than expected. We are feeding him with a tube now, but his sucking reflex is also improved. We have a few more tests to do. If his oral feeding returns to normal and there is no seizure, we plan to discharge him in 1-2 weeks.” said.

Yapıcıoğlu added that pregnant women and children should not travel by motorcycle.
