Returning home in Adana, twenty-seven-year-old Ahmed el-Melhem became suspicious of his wife S.Ç.’s (26) opening the door late and searched the rooms. El-Melhem found his friend Memduh S. (25), whom he had previously asked not to meet with his wife, while he was trying to hide under the kitchen counter and stabbed him in the leg and hip. El-Melhem, who said in his statement, “I stabbed Memduh in a moment of anger when I saw him under the counter,” was arrested.

The incident took place on April 22 at around 12:00 in a detached house in Gülpınar District of Seyhan district. Ahmed al-Melhem, a Syrian national who works as a daily worker, returned home to eat. El-Melhem became suspicious of S.Ç., the mother of his two children, opening the door late and searched the rooms. Entering the kitchen, al-Melhem found his friend Memduh S. trying to hide under the counter. El-Melhem beat Memduh S. and stabbed him in the leg and hip with the bread knife he took from the counter.

Upon notice, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. Memduh S., who received first aid, was taken to Seyhan State Hospital by ambulance. Teams on patrol under the Seyhan District Police Department caught the suspect with the knife at the scene and detained him. It was reported that Memduh S., who was treated at the hospital, was not in a life-threatening situation.

HE WARNED THEM NOT TO MEET

Suspect Ahmed el-Melhem, his wife S.Ç. He said that he and Memduh S. were constantly talking on the phone and that he warned them both not to meet. In his statement at the police station, El-Melhem said, “I told Memduh to stay away from my wife and family. The door of the house opened 10 minutes after the knock.

My wife was wearing only a t-shirt and no underwear. “When I saw Memduh under the counter, I stabbed him in a fit of anger,” he said. Al-Melhem, who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures, was arrested by the court.
