Approximately 6 million milk was delivered to expectant mothers through “Milk for Mothers, Life for Babies”

The “Milk for the Mother, Life for the Baby” Project, which was initiated to prevent premature birth and infant deaths and to provide the calcium needed by expectant mothers during pregnancy, created great satisfaction. In the project, which was launched on December 16, 2019 with the understanding of social municipalism, 132 thousand 747 expectant mothers have been reached so far, and the distribution of milk to 15 thousand 395 pregnant mothers continues.

MILK OF GAZIANTEP PRODUCERS ARE DELIVERED TO EXPECTING MOTHERS IN EVERY CORNER OF THE CITY.

After the sterilization and packaging process of the milk purchased from the producer in Gaziantep, 10 teams reach all districts and neighborhoods of Gaziantep and deliver the milk to expectant mothers.

To benefit from the project, expectant mothers can apply by dialing the extension number 8111-14 via the Women-Friendly City mobile application, ALO 153, Beyaz Masa or 211 12 00. On the other hand, expectant mothers can also benefit from the project by filling out the forms left at family health centers by the Metropolitan Municipality.

AKSOY: OUR MAIN GOAL HERE IS TO REDUCE THE BIRTH RATE OF PREMATURE CHILDREN.

Providing information about the project, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Abdullah Aksoy stated that there is a serious increase in the calcium need of women during pregnancy and said, “Milk is one of the primary foods that meet the calcium need. We send 12-litre milk parcels to women’s homes every 45 days during their 9-month pregnancy. Our main goal here is to reduce the birth rate of premature children. “If they become pregnant, women can apply through our Women-Friendly City mobile application. When they integrate the document from the doctor stating that they are pregnant into the system, we immediately provide this support to these women,” he said.

“THE FLAVOR OF MILK IS ALMOST CLOSE TO GOAT MILK”

Ümmügülsüm Aydın, who is 5 months pregnant and lives in Gökçedere village of Nurdağı district, stated that it was her third pregnancy and said:

“Right now, my baby is 5 and will be 6. I think deeply about your name. Pregnancy is good for now

going. It seems to me that milk is produced once every 45 days. Milk is important, it is important for both the baby and the mother. As the mother drinks, the baby drinks, so ultimately it goes to the baby. Doctors also recommend it. For example, I have a 6-year-old daughter and she still drinks. He drinks it from a bottle, he likes it very much, he drinks it. The taste of milk is almost very close to goat, so delicious. It’s full of fat, it tastes so good, it’s perfect, I can’t tell it apart, it’s so delicious. “My oldest daughter never drank it, she liked the taste and drank 2 glasses and said, ‘Mom, I drink this all the time.'”

“IT PROVIDES A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECONOMY”

Ümmügülsüm Aydın, who stated that she sometimes makes yoghurt for her children from the milk, concluded her words as follows:

“It is delicious whether it is milk, ayran or yoghurt. It makes a great contribution economically. For example, we have goats but no milk. I buy this milk and drink it. It is something that relieves the family economy. I have two children and they both drink. I am very happy to have Fatma Şahin in Gaziantep. She always supports women. Studies are being carried out, whether it is about violence or other issues. When it comes to milk, she thinks of us and sends milk to expectant mothers because she is a mother herself.”
