In Erzurum, which has the highest number of geographically indicated products in our country after Gaziantep and Konya, the increasing tourism activity and number of visitors in recent years have brought positive developments regarding gastronomy, especially in the city center. Geographical indication, which is a quality sign that shows and guarantees for consumers the source of the product, its characteristic features and the connection between the product’s characteristic features and the geographical area, has become popular in recent years. With the geographical indication registration carried out by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office in our country, the protection of products that have gained a certain reputation due to their quality, tradition, raw materials obtained from the region and local characteristics is ensured. The fact that Erzurum is among the top three cities in our country in this sense becomes stronger with the city’s rich culture, ancient history, geographical location and rapidly rising star Palandöken Ski Center.
