Talented girls raised within the scope of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality’s Wildflowers project returned with honors from the Inter-School Stars Girls/Boys Army Turkey Championship. In the project, which was initiated 4 years ago within the Department of Youth and Sports Services and selected girls who live in rural areas and are talented in different sports branches, Wild Flowers continues to make a name for itself with the competitions they organize in and outside the province. The successful athletes of Kır Çiçekler, who made a name for themselves in the weightlifting championships, also returned with honors from the Turkish Inter-School Junior Girls/Boys Championship held in Ordu.

Competing in the weightlifting branch at the championship held in Ordu on April 18, Reyhan Opçin came 3rd in Turkey in the 49 kilo category. With the degree he achieved, Opçin was selected for the U15 National Team Camp. Competing in the 71 kilo category in the same championship, Nesrin Başaran came 3rd in Türkiye.

ABOUT THE WILD FLOWERS PROJECT

The ‘Wild Flowers’ project, which emerged with the importance given by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer to girls, education and sports, and was launched about 4 years ago; It aims to train talented girls, especially those living in rural areas, in different sports branches according to their abilities. Thanks to the project, in which girls who live in rural areas of Mersin and are talented in different branches of sports are selected, the students are steadily preparing for both their lives and their sports lives.
