As in many parts of Turkey, various events are organized in Trabzon on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
Republican People’s Party Trabzon Provincial Directorate organized a program in Meydan Park within the scope of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.

Congratulating April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, CHP Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya said, “It is necessary to talk about the struggle and will behind this. We must engrave our memory. 104 years ago, while the lands were under occupation, one of the most unique commanders in the history of humanity emerged and Kuva… He formed the National Army and started a national struggle with the brave men of Anatolia. In that struggle, he opened the Turkish Grand National Assembly 104 years ago and accomplished something that will be written in golden letters in the history of the world. “No leader could think of giving a holiday to the children of the world. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a pioneer in that field as well as in every field and gifted a holiday to the children of the world. Happy holiday to our children and all of us,” he said.

Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. Our struggle for independence, which started with the arrival of our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Samsun on May 19, 1919, is the century-marked resistance of our nation, which did not accept being crushed under the enemy’s boots and rejected captivity. In the next steps of this resistance, under the leadership of our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his fellow fighters, a call was made to our nation, which was about to lose everything, with the Havza Circular. Then, the concept of national sovereignty was signaled for the first time in the Amasya Circular, and then mandate and protection were rejected with the Erzurum Congress. It was declared that the struggle had spread throughout the country with the Sivas Congress, which we accepted as our first Congress as the Republican People’s Party. These turning points experienced in the last 6 months of 1919 are the first stage of resurrecting a nation that was intended to be destroyed. At the end of this process, the first seeds of our Republic were sown in Ankara, located in the center of Anatolia; The Grand National Assembly was opened on April 23, 1920, and it was declared to the whole world that sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation and that there is no power above the will of the nation. And in a unique way in the world, National Sovereignty Day was gifted to children by our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Atatürk, who entrusted the Republic to the youth, also gifted the National Sovereignty Day to the children and carried the young Republic into the future with the young generations. Today, on the 104th anniversary of April 23, as the Republican People’s Party, we continue to walk with firm steps on the path shown by our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Our party, which emerged as the first party of Turkey in the March 31 Local Elections with the great support and favor of the people, will resolutely fulfill the requirements of the great responsibility it has undertaken in every city with its local governments and in every corner of Turkey with every level of our party. We promise to our nation that trusts us: The Republican People’s Party, the party of establishment and liberation, will definitely fulfill its duty to establish and protect the order in which national sovereignty and the will of the people are unquestionably manifested and protected in this new era, where a new era begins for Turkish politics.
