The April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day celebration ceremony of first grade students in Mersin attracted great attention.

Little hearts made the teachers and parents who filled the hall proud with their show at the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day celebration ceremony held at Mersin University Sports Hall. Mersinli Ahmet Primary School 1st Grade students celebrated the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with great enthusiasm.

Mersinli Ahmet Primary School Principal Yusuf Baltacıoğlu, school administrators, teachers, parents and students worked together to organize an unforgettable holiday celebration. The program provided unforgettable moments to the audience with dance shows and musical performances prepared by the students. While the students showed off their talents on stage, their parents watched with pride.

Stating that it is the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which is the symbol of national sovereignty, Mersinli Ahmet Primary School Principal Yusuf Baltacıoğlu said, “Today is the day when a great nation, whose lands were plundered, took an oath to expel its enemies from the country. Today, a nation that was tried to be destroyed became one wrist and one heart.” “Today is the day when our national sovereignty, whose foundation was kneaded with the noble blood of our ancestors, was presented to Turkish children as a holiday. Today is the first and only holiday celebrated by the children of the world every year in our country. Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.”

Baltacıoğlu stated that the Republic of Turkey has not had an easy time these days, and that hundreds of thousands of martyrs and veterans were given for the sake of these sacred lands, and said, “Our national holidays such as April 23 have another important meaning. These holidays are the days when we strengthen our unity and solidarity, and are united in sorrow and joy as a nation. On this day, we should talk and think about how we can better protect and develop the legacy of our ancestors, who entrusted us with their lives and blood, and carry it to the future. What makes our great leader Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, great is not only the works he left behind, but also his ability to read today and reach us today. “It is to pave the way for modern civilization for our country by taking enlightening steps,” he said.
