It was learned that the Sıtmapınarı Family Health Center (ASM) building, which has the highest registered population in Malatya, will be demolished.

The family health center building, which was not used for a while after the earthquake on the grounds that it was unsafe after the February 6 earthquakes, the epicenter of which was Kahramanmaraş, was later deemed to be sound and was reopened for use in the summer of last year.

Sıtmapınarı Family Health Center, which has the highest registered population potential in Malatya with 11 family health units, was inspected months later and revealed that it was not strong and could be strengthened or demolished and rebuilt. In the latest decision, it was learned that the final decision was taken to demolish the building and build a new building in its place.

A big problem has arisen about how Sıtmapınarı Family Health Center, which has a registered population of nearly 30 thousand and is the family health center with the highest population potential in Malatya, will provide service during this process.

Among the information received by the surrounding residents is that, in case the family health center, which provides service to 11 family health units, is demolished, containers will be installed in the garden of the family health center by Malatya Provincial Health Directorate. However, considering that the number of these containers will not meet the current healthcare potential and will remain far below the need, and therefore their negative effects will be seen much more in the future, the authorities are expected to find a solution for this problem.

Some of the residents of the area registered to the family health center; “They were thinking of a so-called solution for a family health center that had the potential to serve 11 doctors, in which approximately 3 doctors would serve. We experienced the February 6 earthquakes. We suffered a lot in this process. Last year, the building of the Sıtmapınarı Family Health Center was not used again. From the container set up in the garden “We received health care. Those days were difficult to manage. However, while we should be getting better day by day, the administrators who produce so-called solutions to such problems do not think about us at all,” they expressed their common reaction.

Stating that they heard that the number of units providing service in the family health center will be reduced by almost one third, citizens said, “While we even guess what kind of confusion this might cause, how can the managers in charge of this business not foresee this problem? There will be long queues to receive health care. As a result, fights will occur.” There will be tensions. There are not even a waiting area for those receiving health care in the containers. There are elderly people, pregnant women, children and disabled people. What do these people do in the rain, mud, rain and summer heat? It seems that no official cares. “service is not such a solution.” they said.

Citizens also stated that there are existing public buildings around Sıtmapınarı Family Health Center and said, “At least during this transition period, a temporary place should be provided in the existing public buildings in the vicinity. Health care is too important an issue to be disrupted. When people cannot receive service from the family health centers to which they are registered.” “They will have to go to hospitals. This will increase the burden on hospitals. Their so-called solutions will bring with them many problems. They should rectify this mistake.” they said.

Some citizens also claimed that the problem would be solved in the most rational way by temporarily using some of the solid public institutions in the vicinity, but that some pharmacies near the family health center were trying to prevent this.

Citizens added that they expect help from Malatya Governor Ersin Yazıcı to solve the problem and said, “If necessary, we will try to explain the issue to the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca through social media.” they said.
