Monthly earnings of Engin and Dilan Polat, who testified in the Banu Parlak case, left their mark on the hearing

The monthly income of the Polat couple, who was brought to the courthouse and whose statement was taken within the scope of the case, attracted attention.

“MY AVERAGE INCOME IS 200 THOUSAND TL”

At the hearing held at Küçükçekmece Criminal Court of First Instance, defendants Dilan, Engin and Sezgin Polat and complainant Banu Parlak were present. Lawyers of the parties also attended the hearing. During the identification at the hearing, Engin Polat said, “My average monthly income is 200 thousand.” Dilan Polat also said that her monthly income is 200 thousand TL.

Engin Polat asked if he could talk to his little son on the phone in the courtroom and said, “We haven’t talked for 6 months.” Upon this request, the judge said “all contact is prohibited”.

SHE CRIED TO HER DAUGHTER AND SAID “WE DID NOT DO IT”

Dilan Polat entered the courtroom crying and held her husband’s hand. Polat wanted to hold the hand of his daughter, who was sitting in the audience section of the courtroom, but the gendarmerie did not allow it. Dilan Polat often said to her daughter, “Daughter, I love you very much, it will all pass, we didn’t do it, we didn’t do it.” Defendant Polat could not control his tears in the courtroom.

In her defense, Dilan Polat said, “I have known Banu Parlak, she has been my friend for 6 years. There were times when we were angry and made up. Before the workplace was shot, she asked me for help and support in her work. I told her that I would be happy to help her. Later, I found out when I saw the news on social media. I saw posts stating that there was no security and that they held us responsible. There was no problem between us until that moment. I also learned from the press and social media that the workplace was shot. Meanwhile, the Dalton gang also threatened my wife and me. “available,” he said. Polat got emotional and cried from time to time during his defense.

Dilan Polat continued her defense as follows: “Can Dalton also sent me messages saying ‘I will take away your honor’. I don’t know why we are being tried in the same file as the people who threatened us. I went to Georgia in 2018-2019 during my pregnancy. I ate, visited and returned. Socially I live a life in the forefront in the media. I think that Halil İbrahim Kalkan wanted to extort money in different ways because of our good financial situation. He went to our Pendik branch and said, ‘Take down the signs’. The employees also have voice recordings. Why did I have such an enmity? “He targeted me and my family in this matter. I do not know anyone mentioned in the file, other than my family members. At that time, the video was shared against me on social media. I was very confused and I do not accept the accusations.”

Dilan Polat, on the question of the complainant’s lawyer to whom did you tell the words “You will see the mother and father of the precautionary decision”, said: “I did not have a direct interlocutor there. There were posts about us being laundered money and doing illegal things. I said it in general.”

In his defense, Engin Polat said, “I don’t know Banu Parlak. I have never met her. One day, she made statements on social media saying, ‘If something happens to me, Dilan and Engin Polat are responsible.’ I said to my wife, isn’t this woman your friend, why is she doing this, call her and talk to her.” I said, ‘I wouldn’t call.’ But my wife called with good intentions, and I learned about it later. There was a lot of money laundering. We will soon see that this friend’s shop was shot. They called us to testify. That’s all, we have nothing to do with anyone. I learned that there were other defendants in this court. The false witness, Halil İbrahim Kalkan, was threatening us before, saying he would call our branches and meet with Sezgin and Engin Polat. It happened to us, he was saying, ‘I will do them like this, I will do them that way, take down these signs, from now on Dilan Polat will not write here, Halil İbrahim Kalkan will write them’. It continued for 2-3 months. We didn’t take him into consideration because he was a phone pervert. But one day he went to our Pendik branch and made threats. I said to my father, ‘This can’t be like this, let’s go and file a complaint, he’s starting to attack us physically.’ We went to Gayrettepe and filed a complaint. I know that this person was punished as a result of the lawsuits filed. This person made up a cover by saying ‘I lent 500 thousand TL to Sezgin Polat and I’m calling to get it.’ He later added Banu Parlak to this cover. Supposedly, we wanted Banu Parlak to be shot and offered money in return. “He is a false witness,” he said.

“IF THE SMALLEST EVIDENCE IS FOUND FROM ME AND MY FAMILY, I WILL CONSENT TO ANY PUNISHMENT”

Stating that he has no connection with Georgia, Engin Polat said, “I have never called anyone who was there, let alone my connection. We went on holiday to Georgia 4-5 years ago as a family and a couple.” Engin Polat continued: “I don’t know the Dalton gang either. I learned about it while reading a newspaper 2 months ago. Can Dalton had previously threatened my wife. 2 of my shops were shot at in 3 different periods of time. So I shared the video, saying they were dishonorable. This man later responded to me. “The next bullet is for you,” he said. “We have been slandered in this case. Our commercial reputation has been damaged. I demand my acquittal and release. If even the slightest evidence is found on me and my family, I am willing to accept any punishment.”

In response to the question of the complainant’s lawyer, Engin Polat said, “I do not know anyone named Emirhan Döner, I have never met such a person. Fatih Gezer is my childhood friend. He called me from prison. He saw that our shop was shot in the media. He tried to help me with his own effort, saying ‘I know this and that,’ but the name of the Daltons gang was not mentioned in the conversation.” said.
