Macron threatens to extend sanctions against violent settlers
French President Emmanuel Macron, King of Jordan II. In his meeting with Abdullah, he said Paris was considering expanding sanctions against Israeli settlers behind violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

In the statement made by Macron’s office, it was stated that the two leaders harshly condemned “Israel’s latest statements regarding settlements in the West Bank” as contrary to international law.
Macron and King Abdullah also spoke about the “disaster of the humanitarian situation in Gaza” and reiterated their opposition to such an operation, stating that “Israel is very concerned about the possibility of an attack on Rafah, where more than 1.5 million people have taken refuge.”
Macron also “reiterated that the release of hostages held by Hamas is an absolute priority for France.”
In February, 28 extremist Israeli settlers were banned from entering French territory.
