In the statement made by the country’s Supreme Communications Council, it was shared that the broadcasts of two international radio stations were suspended for two weeks.

In the statement, it was noted that the broadcasts of VOA and BBC Africa were temporarily suspended on the grounds that they reported on the Human Rights Organization (HRW) claim that 223 civilians, including 56 children, were killed by the Burkina Faso army on February 25.

On the other hand, access to the websites and digital platforms of VOA, BBC and HRW was also banned.

The Burkina Faso administration deported two French journalists in April 2023 and stopped broadcasting some channels, including France24.

In its report published yesterday, HRW claimed that the Burkina Faso army killed 223 civilians, including 56 children, on February 25.
