While the war launched by Russia against Ukraine continues, the Ukrainian army, which has recently had difficult times on the front, is looking forward to the help from the USA. However, it was revealed that the long-range missiles that the USA had previously secretly sent to Ukraine were used in Crimea for the first time.

It is stated that the missiles, which were part of the $300 million aid package approved by US President Joe Biden last month and sent to Ukraine this month, were used for the first time in an attack against Russian military targets in occupied Crimea. It was also claimed that the missiles were used against Russian troops in the occupied port city of Berdyansk. It was learned that this situation was not disclosed in order not to endanger Ukraine’s operations.

KREMLIN IS UNCOMFORTABLE

It is stated that the missiles sent silently are long-range derivatives of ATACMS. The United States has previously sent medium-range tactical missile systems, but has been reluctant to send more powerful weapons, in part because of concerns about leaking information about U.S. military readiness. While it is stated that the delivery of missiles with a range of 300 kilometers will continue, the impact they will have on the field is eagerly awaited. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said, “They will make a difference, but as I said before, they are not a magic wand.”

The Kremlin, on the other hand, is disturbed by the developments. The Russian administration, which was already very disturbed by the passage of the $61 billion aid bill by the US Congress, reacted to the secret sending of ATACMS missiles to Kiev. Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in his statement on the issue: “The USA was directly involved in this conflict. They are trying to increase the range of the weapon systems they supply. “This will not lead to a significant change in the outcome of the special military operation,” he said.

‘IT IS PUTIN’S RUSSIA THAT SHOULD BE FEARED’

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said: “It is not we (the West) who should be afraid of a conflict, but rather Vladimir Putin’s Russia.” Sikorski said, “It is worth reminding this to show that Russia’s attack on any of the Alliance members will result in Moscow’s inevitable defeat.” On the other hand, NATO Allied Land Forces Commander General Darryl Williams officially shared with the public for the first time that the exercises that the Alliance member countries started in Europe in the spring were against Russia. Williams stated that in the past, the “name of the enemy” was not disclosed in such maneuvers, but this time they announced it.

RUSSIA VETOED THE BAN ON NUCLEAR USE IN SPACE

Russia vetoed the draft resolution in the UN Security Council, which aims to ensure the peaceful use of space and prevent the placement of nuclear and weapons of mass destruction in space. In the final vote on the bill on the peaceful use of space, submitted by the USA and Japan and supported by Turkey, Russia used its veto right, while China abstained. 13 members voted in favor. Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, stated that the draft resolution was ‘limited and political’ and stated that it should cover all weapons.
