Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosted US Secretary of State Blinken in Beijing. Yi said that he stated that the Asia-Pacific region should not turn into a battlefield of great powers during the meeting and added, “We expect the United States to make the right decision, develop positive relations with China and not interfere in our internal affairs.” While Blinken said that China’s support for Russia caused concern, he said, “Both sides should avoid misunderstandings.”

Making a statement after the meeting, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the USA was taking ‘infinite’ measures to suppress China’s economy. Stating that they are experiencing pressure in the fields of trade, science and technology, China said, “This is not fair competition. This is taking control.”
Saying that the USA should lift sanctions on Chinese companies, Yi said, “The USA should stop arming Taiwan and taking China under control. It should support China’s peaceful ‘reunification’ process.” said. He added that dragging the two countries into conflict would create a ‘lose-lose’ situation.
