One of the most incredible events of recent days has been recorded in Venezuela, a South American country with a population of 28 million. Approximately 20 prisoners attempted to escape from Maracaibo prison in the country. The prisoners, who dug the meters-long secret tunnel for days, finally started to escape by entering the tunnel. Noticing his attempt to escape, the guards and police started waiting at the exit of the tunnel.

In the images captured on camera, the prisoners barely coming out of the tunnel were caught by the police one by one, making a splash in the world media. Authorities recalled that the prisoners had been digging the tunnel for a long time, waiting for an opportunity to escape during a small-scale riot in the prison. Three prisoners who tried to escape through the tunnel were slightly injured during the riot and were taken to the hospital after being caught. Making a statement on the subject, a police officer said, “Everything is under control, there was no loss of life.”

Making a statement about the riot in the prison, the mayor said, “There are no serious injuries or deaths. The police have everything under control.” The mayor did not comment on the tunnel opened and the escape attempt. Maracaibo police chief noted that the escape attempt in the prison failed and that security measures will be further increased in the coming days.
