There are more than 21 million retirees in Germany, which has a population of approximately 84 million.

According to Deutsche Welle Turkish, the increase decision will come into force on July 1. For the first time since 2000, Germany will give pensioners a raise above the annual inflation rate. The retirement raise expectation in the country was 3.5 percent.

Labor Minister Hubertus Heil said that this situation was largely linked to the significant wage increase in Germany.

In addition, for the first time since the reunification in Germany in 1990, the same raise rate will be valid for retirees throughout the country.

The salary of retirees in the former East Germany was below the pension in the former West Germany. But in recent years, much higher raises have been given to retirees in the former East Germany, bringing the pension to the same level across the country last year.

Minister Heil said that the equalization of pensions across the country after 34 years would be a good thing for Germany. ‘milestone’ said that.
