Remarkable town in Alaska… There is only one building and everyone lives there

All residents of the town of Whittier live in the same building, Begich Towers, a former military barracks. There is also a police station, shop, doctor’s office and school within the barracks.

Residents living in the barracks building have all their needs met in one place and do not need to go out. A resident living in the town, without giving his name, describes this situation as an experience and says:

“The tunnel through which the town is accessed is completely closed from 10pm to 5am. That’s why you can’t enter or leave the town. People immediately realize you’re not from their town, and that’s a bit annoying. They’ve all been nice to us, though.”
