In Greece, a member of parliament who left the far-right Spartans Party was detained for punching a member of parliament from another far-right party, the Greek Solution. According to media reports, during the discussions in the parliament regarding the removal of the immunity of Greek Solution Party President Kiryakos Velopulos, a verbal argument took place between two MPs.
During the discussion that continued in the parliamentary corridors after the talks, Konstandinos Floros, who entered the parliament from the Spartans Party in the June 2023 general elections but later left the party, punched Greek Solution Party Deputy Vasilis Grammenos. Parliament Speaker Konstandinos Tasulas decided to suspend Floros from the parliament for 15 days.
Floros was also detained by the police in accordance with Article 157 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 10 years in case of violence against MPs while on duty.
