It was announced that Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was arrested on charges of accepting ‘large-scale’ bribes. This arrest is one of the most high-profile corruption cases since Moscow launched the Ukraine War.

Ivanov was questioned by the Investigative Committee, Russia’s highest investigative body.

Ivanov, 48, is one of 12 Deputy Ministers of the Ministry of Defense and is on the sanctions list of both the US and the EU following the Russia-Ukraine War.

Russian media claimed that Ivanov was accused of corruption during the reconstruction process of the city of Mariupol, which was held by Russian forces in Ukraine.
