In the written statement made by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that there was political pressure on Russian-language media organizations in Moldova and that the websites of these organizations were blocked.
For this reason, the statement noted that Moldova’s Ambassador to Moscow, Lilian Darii, was summoned to the ministry and a note of protest was given to the ambassador, adding: “The Ambassador was informed that some officials of the Republic of Moldova were banned from entering the Russian Federation as an asymmetric response.”
Moldovan Information and Security Service (SIS) reported last month that access to 20 websites of Russia’s leading media organizations and television channels, including the Tass news agency, Interfax, Rossiyaskaya Gazeta and Izvestiya newspapers, was blocked. (AA)
