21-year-old Jewel Shuping, who lives in the eastern US state of North Carolina, has dreamed of being blind since her childhood. The young girl blinded herself by pouring drain cleaner into her eyes. Shuping, whose eyes were damaged, could not regain his sight despite all the efforts of the doctors.
HE SCREAMED WITH JOY WHILE HE WAS BLINDED
Shuping said that he started thinking about being blind when he was a child, and that thinking that he was blind gave him relief. The young girl, disregarding her health, poured drain cleaner into her eyes. Shuping screamed with joy, saying, “I’m going blind, everything is going well,” even though his eyes and skin were burning.
HE COMPLETELY LOST HIS SIGHTNESS WITHIN 6 MONTHS
When the young girl went to the hospital 30 minutes later, doctors said that her eye was seriously damaged and there was not much they could do. Over 6 months, Shuping gradually lost all his vision.
“IT IS CAUSED BY PERSONALITY DISORDER”
Shuping, who said that he resorted to such a path because of the problem of ‘a disorder characterized by the desire to be disabled or the distress caused by not being disabled’, said that he did not blame himself for his actions and that no one should blame him.
