In North Korea, known for its dictatorial rule, the family, including a 2-year-old baby, was imprisoned and sent to a prison camp by the order of the leader of the country, Kim Jong-un, on the grounds that they had a Bible in their home.
According to the International Series Freedom Report published by the US State Department, a family including a two-year-old child in North Korea was imprisoned and sent to a prison camp because ‘the Bible was missing from their house’.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST
In 2011, a Christian woman and her granddaughter were shot in North Korea for their beliefs. In the country, it was stated that other detainees with religious beliefs were tortured for days and finally executed by hanging to death.
One of the members of the ruling party led by Kim Jong-un was among those executed. The party member, who had a bible from his house, was executed by the death penalty watched by 3,000 people. Since Kim came to power, nearly 70,000 of the estimated 400,000 Christians living in the country are thought to have been imprisoned for their beliefs.
