The arrest of Engin and Dilan Polat, a couple who made a name for themselves with their flamboyant life, on charges of money laundering, tax evasion and establishing an organization, became a hot topic in the country. A reference was made to the Polat couple in the TV series Kirli Sepeti.

The reference in the last episode of the TV series Kirli Sepeti, starring Ayça Bingöl, Ceren Moray, Halil İbrahim Ceyhan, Gözde Seda Altuner, Serkay Tütüncü, Melisa Döngel, Bestemsu Özdemir, Serhat Kılıç, Cansu Tosun and Devrim Yakut, attracted attention.
Nergis, played by Gözde Seda Altuner, drew attention when, while talking about the possibility of her ex-husband, who was found to have evaded taxes, going to prison, she said, “From now on, that woman who screams energy will be her cellmate with her husband.”
WHAT HAPPENED IN THE ENGİN-DILAN POLAT INCIDENT?
The couple Engin and Dilan Polat, against whom an investigation was launched by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of “Prevention of Laundering Proceeds of Crime, Violation of the Tax Procedure Law and the Regulation of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions”, were detained in an operation carried out by the Financial Crimes Department.
While a total of 24 suspects were caught within the scope of the operation, 18 suspects were transferred to the Anatolian Courthouse after their police procedures were completed. After a total of 19 hours of proceedings, 12 of the 18 suspects, including Engin Polat, Dilan Polat, Sıla Doğu, Sezgin Polat, Ahmet Gün, Can Doğu and Can Polat, were arrested, while 6 suspects were released on condition of judicial control. Two more suspects, who were referred to the courthouse within the scope of the investigation, were arrested.
Thus, the number of detainees within the scope of the investigation became 14; 9 suspects were released on condition of judicial control. The detainees were sent to Marmara Prison in Silivri.
SEZGİN POLAT AND ENGİN POLAT WERE REFERRED TO ÇORLU PRISON
In the Polat operation, the male suspects were sent to other prisons 11 days after they were arrested. Engin Polat and his father Sezgin Polat were sent to Çorlu Prison, Engin Polat’s brother Alper Kürşat Polat and Lawyer and Financial Advisor Ahmet Gün’s relative Zekayi Tepe were sent to Kocaeli Prison.
Engin Polat’s brother Alper Kürşat Polat, his uncle Halit Polat and his uncle Metin Yılmaz were sent to Tekirdağ Prison together with Dilan Polat’s brother Can Doğu.
