Melih Gökçek, former Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, He participated in the Ankara Masası TV program presented by Fatih Atik. During the program, Gökçek thought that a tweet written as a joke on social media was real. “Oil was found in Adana, worth 1 billion dollars. Now I saw something new, I’m going to investigate, 6 billion dollars worth of jellybeans were found” used the phrases.

While commenting on the oil reserve discoveries, Gökçek said that 6 billion dollars worth of jellybean reserves were discovered:

“They searched and found it and closed it. It turns out that there is oil around here. They haven’t even investigated them yet. Now he finds them all one by one. 1 billion he found only in Adana. They found something new in Adana. I read it in the newspaper today. I don’t know what it means either. Let me admit. I’ll look into it so I know. He has his name. Children eat. Gumballs. Gumballs were found. I don’t know what jelly beans mean. 6 billion dollars worth of jellybeans were found underground. I don’t know what this means. I looked at the media today. [Fake falan olmasın başkanım?] No, it’s not fake. official thing. It’s back to back.”

If the tweet in question that Gökçek thinks is real, Murat Muratoğlu, economics writer for Sözcü newspaper had thrown. Muratoğlu, in that post, “After the oil found in Adana, 6 billion dollar jellybean reserves were found in two wells in Adıyaman…” had used the words.
