THE PENALTY FOR ESCAPE HAS BEEN INCREASED

The bill to increase the prison sentence for those fleeing military mobilization in Russia was passed by the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.
Various changes were made to the military penal code in Russia with the draft law adopted in the Duma.

According to the bill, soldiers who surrender voluntarily to the enemy army could be sentenced to 10 years in prison, and those who plundered during wartime could be sentenced to 15 years in prison. The prison sentence for evading military duty during mobilization was also increased from 5 years to 10 years.
