A radical decision has been made for referees, the most controversial issue of this season in Turkish football.

For a long time, the biggest topic of discussion in Turkish football continues to be referees. There were huge discussions on the field, including the Super League president punching the referee. However, a revolutionary decision that will put an end to the debates on referee appointments, which have been one of the most fundamental problems of Turkish football for years, is about to be implemented.

INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR BOARD

According to Fanatik’s news, the Turkish Football Federation and the clubs competing in professional leagues agreed on the idea of establishing an independent referee board. The project, inspired by the German model, received approval from all clubs.

It is planned that the independent referee board will have a say in referee appointments starting next season. The project agreed upon by TFF and the clubs will be implemented as follows. TFF will establish a company, professional clubs will establish another company. These two companies will establish a new company with 5 members. 3 of the members will be determined by TFF and 2 will be determined by the clubs. This company, consisting of 5 members, will appoint an independent arbitration board.

SAME AS GERMAN MODEL

The arbitration committee will start its activities on a professional basis; It will have the authority to appoint and sanction all kinds of referees, including the determination of classification referees. With this structure, the Board will ensure that clubs have an absolute say in referee appointments.

The independent referee board will be able to make independent decisions from the TFF and the clubs on the appointment of foreign referees and VAR referees, if necessary. It is commented that the model in this form is the same as the German model, but is similar to the British model.

A PRESENTATION WILL BE MADE

Federation professionals, led by TFF manager Mustafa Eröğüt, will come together with club representatives and present the new system. It is planned to establish an independent referee board as soon as the leagues are finished.
