Prepared by the Revenue Administration of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance ‘Communiqué on Amendments to the Value Added Tax General Application Communiqué’ It was published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, the VAT rate applied to the sales of food items manufactured in businesses such as restaurants, cafes and patisseries or supplied externally by these businesses was increased from 8 percent to 10 percent. This rate was increased from 18 percent to 20 percent for alcoholic beverages.

The same VAT rates will be applied to all sales made by businesses through methods such as sending to the address by ordering by phone or online, and ‘pick-up’.

On the other hand, sales made by those who provide food and beverage services to their customers in areas where tables, seats, and counters can be served, although they do not have a business license to open and operate food and beverage services, are also included in the scope of the regulation.

The communiqué will come into force from the beginning of May.
