According to the information obtained, as a result of the driver of the gasoline-laden tanker traveling in the direction of Yalova on D-130 Highway in Gölcük district, the driver lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle hit the iron railings on the median and crossed into the opposite lane.
The tanker, which could not stop for 150 meters, crashed into the foot of the overpass bridge and then into two parked pickup trucks. The tractor part of the tanker then hit a light commercial vehicle coming from the opposite lane and broke off.
The broken tow truck flew from the D130 Highway to the opposite street. While the tanker driver was slightly injured in the accident, gasoline was scattered on the road. Upon notice, health, police, fire brigade and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.

While medical teams arrived at the scene in a short time and took the injured to the hospital, police teams closed the Yalova and Izmit directions of the D130 Highway to traffic against the risk of explosion. In addition, citizens in the surrounding buildings were also evacuated.

Ömer Çengel said, “The tanker hit 3 vehicles. Gasoline is constantly flowing from the tanker. The police evacuated the house. We are waiting outside now.”
