Is Descartes’ aim to produce ideas? Or is it the concern to produce tools to dominate nature, existence and the world?
Starting from this, modern thought is not an effort to think; On the contrary, I will say that I think it is the act of evaporating and canceling both the thought and the effort to think that will produce the thought.
Modern thought is not, as Heidegger might perhaps say, an attempt at inquiry into technique. He who cannot think, who does not know how to think, who has no effort to think, does not know how to investigate, and cannot investigate anything. Modern thought is an effort to think about the technique of domination over the world, and ultimately about this technique – and therefore the means. In other words, modern thought or philosophy is, at most, an exercise in thinking about the issue of how to dominate the world, things, and people. Nothing further.
In fact, this means trying not to think. This is the inevitable result of focusing on technique (means, the process and action of domination) rather than thinking: A person who cannot think. That’s why he is the “object” that falls but does not know that it is falling.
