US Senator Bernie Sanders of the state of Vermont responded in writing to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement that he was anti-Semitic.
“No, Mr. Netanyahu, this is not being anti-Semitic or pro-Hamas,” Sanders said. “In six months, your extremist government has killed 34,000 Palestinians and injured more than 77,000, 70 percent of whom were women and children.”

Emphasizing that stating that more things were destroyed in the Gaza Strip during Israeli bombardments has nothing to do with being anti-Semitic, Sanders said, “With the destruction of more than 221 thousand houses in Gaza, more than one million people became homeless. But please, your extremist and racist government’s immoral and illegal war. “Do not insult the intelligence of the American people by trying to distract us from their policies. Do not use anti-Semitism to divert attention from the criminal indictment you face in Israeli courts. It is not anti-Semitism to hold you accountable for your actions.”
Yesterday, Netanyahu accused Sanders of being antisemitic due to his criticism of the Israeli government’s policies.
