Panathinaikos, coached by Fatih Terim, lost 3-0 away to AEK in the leadership match.

POINT DIFFERENCE 4

Fatih Terim’s Panathinaikos fell 4 points behind the leader AEK after losing the match in which they would have been the leader had they won.

MISTAKE FROM SAMET AKAYDİN

Samet Akaydin, who went to Panathinaikos on loan from Fenerbahçe during the interim transfer period, made a big mistake in the AEK match in which he played in the first 11.

In the 38th minute, while trying to pass the ball to his goalkeeper, the ball fell short and Ponce intervened and sent the ball into the net in the opposite position.

PANATHINAIKOS WAITED FOR PENALTY

In the minutes when the match was 1-0, Panathinaikos was waiting for a penalty and the referee decided to continue. There was no review recommendation from the VAR room.

FATİH TERİM REBELLED AFTER THE MATCH

Reacting to the referee’s decisions, Fatih Terim said the following after the match:

We didn’t play well today. Let me start by congratulating our opponent. They played well and deserved to win. We conceded the goal early and our balance was disrupted. If there is one issue that can be discussed, it is Kotsiras’ penalty position. If that penalty had been awarded, we could have entered the game. The referees treat us a little strangely when they come to this field. We did not play with a quality referee. Of course, this does not mean that AEK did not deserve the match. They played better than us. I say again, if it had been 1-1 with a penalty, maybe we could have said different things. We made it easier for the opponent, we gave them enough space, we lost enough balls in the centre. I didn’t think we could turn the score around during the match. We couldn’t play well.

YOU ARE NOT RESPECTED

The referee does not give us a penalty, then shows us a yellow card and asks for respect. You are not a man to be respected! Would such a referee be brought from France at great expense?

NOTHING IS OVER

We have no intention of giving up until the final whistle. If we have the chance, we will continue until the end. We were defeated today, but nothing is over. We lost a big advantage on paper. We will follow it until the end.
