In the post made on the Instagram account of the German Consulate General in Istanbul, it was stated that the consulate general will remain closed today (February 1, 2023) for security reasons. In the statement, it was reported that visa and passport appointments planned for today were also canceled.
The Dutch Consulate General in Beyoğlu was also temporarily closed to visitors due to possible protest demonstrations and the increasing threat to western targets.
The UK Foreign Office has updated its travel warning. In the statement, it was stated that British citizens made more than 3 million 330 thousand visits to Turkey in 2022 and most of the visits went smoothly. The British Consulate is temporarily closed to visitors.
USA warned its citizens
The US Embassy also warned its citizens against possible terrorist attacks in Turkey, especially in Istanbul, Beyoğlu and Galata, and in places frequently visited by western tourists.
