It was revealed that the bone fragments found in the forest area in Balıkesir belonged to Korhan Berzeg, who had been missing for about a year.
The bones found in the stream bed, thought to belong to Korhan Berzeg, who has not been heard from for a long time and is wanted, were examined at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute for further diagnosis.
DNA samples taken from the bones were compared with DNA samples taken from Berzeg’s daughter Nisa Berzeg, who lives in England.
At the end of the examination, the DNAs matched.
Thus, it became clear that the bone fragments found belonged to Berzeg.

ANOTHER BONE PIECE WAS FOUND TODAY
Today, gendarmerie teams worked with 62 personnel and 3 dogs in the area where bone fragments and clothes were found. In the study, a part of the shirt that was previously found and a bone fragment thought to be an arm bone were found.

HE LEFT HOME ON JUNE 17, AND NEVER RETURNED.
Work was initiated under the coordination of the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate for economist Korhan Berzeg (83), who was not heard from after leaving his home in Armutlu District with his dog “Tina” for a morning walk on June 17, 2023.

SEARCHED FOR DAYS BUT NO TRACE FOUND
The teams searched for Berzeg and his dog for days in Armutlu and the surrounding forest area, as well as in nearby neighborhoods, water wells, stream beds and caves, but could not find any traces.

CLOTHING AND BONE PIECES WERE FOUND ON APRIL 23
Approximately 3.5 kilometers away from Armutlu, on April 23, bones, pieces of clothing, and ID and bank cards were found by the residents of the neighborhood and were examined by the teams.

Korhan Berzeg’s wife Angela and daughter Nisa Berzeg came to Gönen and gave DNA samples, and these samples were sent to Istanbul for laboratory examination.
